Founder & Principal Environmental Scientist - Cynthia Pyć
The founder and principal of IBN Environmental & Geomatics, Cynthia Pyć brings over 28 years of experience working on all four coastlines of the continental U.S. and Canada – from the Gulf Coast to the Canadian Beaufort Sea, the Atlantic seaboard from New York to Nova Scotia, and offshore California, the Pacific Northwest, and the Sunshine Coast.
Her work also spans conventional energy projects onshore in Alberta and British Columbia, and offshore internationally in a variety of jurisdictions.
Cynthia has deep expertise in regulatory advocacy, strategic planning, environmental and social risk and impact assessment, environmental monitoring, permitting and compliance, safe operations planning, emergency and incident management, science communication, and Indigenous rightsholder engagement.

She most recently served as Director of Permitting & Environment for a multinational offshore wind company, where she built and led a high-performing, multidisciplinary team of 14. Prior roles include Group Marine Biology Subject Matter Expert and HSSE & Regulatory Team Lead at a major oil and gas company, and Senior Scientist and Sustainability Manager at a specialty consulting firm.

A published scientist with peer reviewed work focused primarily on underwater acoustics, Cynthia holds a Master of Science in Resources and the Environment and a Bachelor of Science in Zoology with a Psychology minor, both from the University of Calgary.
